The Sydney Cricket Club Academy provides a structured and complete pathway for the identification, development, coaching and mentoring of talented young cricketers.
The program will take place over 6 x 2 hour sessions in the off-and pre-season and will focus on teaching correct techniques to optimise performance, develop tactical awareness, game sense, injury prevention and preparation for competition, conditioning and matches.
The program will be managed by Mark Atkinson and players will work closely with a team of coaches, including a range of specialist skill sessions covering the areas of batting, fast bowling, spin bowling and wicket keeping. Players will receive a training shirt and cap.
Importantly, in each of the seasons 2008/09, 2009/10 and 2010/11 seasons, 10 of the final 13 players selected for our Green Shield teams were Academy program graduates and since 2008/09 over 20 Academy players have already progressed into grade cricket with Sydney, including selections in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade, Poidevin-Gray Shield and the prestigious Combined City Green Shield teams.
Clearly, if you are looking to progress into grade cricket and beyond, the Academy program represents not only a great stepping stone for your cricket career but also an outstanding opportunity to develop your skills.
