Elite Cricket took an U16 team to New Zealand to compete in the Nelson Youth Cricket Festival in late January. The team was made up of players from Northern Districts, Balmain, North Shore, Eastern Suburbs and Armidale and took part in the cricket tournament at the tip of New Zealand’s North Island.
The Elite Cricket XI was unfortunate not to get a win, but learned to adjust to the different (and difficult) playing conditions and competed well against some strong New Zealand teams from Auckland Grammar, Nelson College, Christchurch and an all-conquering Australian team from Endeavour Sports High School. The team was accompanied and coached by Elite Cricket’s Mark Atkinson and hopes to return in 2011 to continue the “Trans-Tasman rivalry”
Cheers
