iam temporary resident in australia just completed studies
and i have full time to practice now and iam very much interested in cricket….iam 25 yrs old and i was out of cricket for 2 years ….iam an allrounder.

Hi Mark
I am a country boy from Tamworth, and love my cricket.I am looking to icrease my pace in bowling. I played Central North NSW as a under 14 as the opening bowler but had a year break. I am currently the school captain of the opens cricket team. I am a under 16 playing in the local 3rd grade team occasionally filling in for second grade. I was looking to get some quality sessions and expert advice in the off season and really come into the 2010/11 season as a new player.
Is there any chance for some sessions in the off season? can you contact me with costs, details etc.

Hi Charlie

My view is that to maximise your effectiveness as a bowler you need to develop mastery over your stock ball. Your stock ball should be your best ball and the one you look to bowl at least 90% of the time. Perhaps the reason your are getting the feedback you are getting is that your advisors recognise that you need to develop this mastery. That said there is no reason for you not to develop mastery over your variation – who know where that may lead. Getting really good batsmen out takes skill, consistency, patience and subtle as opposed to obvious variation and with this in mind I have posted a link below to an article I have written for you to review.

hi mark

im a spin bowler, prodominantly orthodox, i also bowl a doosra, a leggy, a straight ball and a range of other slightly different deliveries. my coaches and other elders of my club suggest that its best that i stick to one thing only and not worry about all the others.. is there anything you can suggest that may help??
